Throttle Position Sensor
OPERATIONThe signal from the Throttle Position Sensor is a function of the throttle valve opening angle.
PURPOSE
The throttle position sensor supplies the ECM with a linear voltage signal regarding the position of the throttle valve. The throttle valve opening information is used for acceleration enrichment and full throttle enrichment.
The signal from the Throttle Position Sensor is used as a substitute function for the mass air flow sensor and diagnosis of the closed throttle position switch.
CONSTRUCTION
Throttle Valve Potentiometer:
The Throttle Position Sensor and closed throttle position switch are in one housing. The housing is located on the throttle body and operated by the throttle shaft. The Throttle Position Sensor is a potentiometer fitted with two contacts running on two carbon tracks.
