01N Transmission
CAUTION: To avoid damaging the electronic components, select the appropriate function and measurement range on the test equipment before connecting the test leads.NOTES:
^ Use digital multimeter Fluke 83 or equivalent, with adapters from VAG 1594 connector test kit.
^ Specified test values are valid only within the 0°-40°C (32°- 104°F) ambient temperature range.
^ If measured values differ only slightly from specified values, clean test equipment terminals, sockets and cables, and then repeat the test.
^ Before replacing any component check connections and wiring using the wiring diagrams and, especially if the specified value is less than 10 Ohms, repeat the resistance measurements.
Test Requirements:
^ Battery Positive Voltage (B+) OK
^ Voltage supply and fuses 4, 12 and 30 OK
^ Ground connections OK
- Check Ground connection on engine intake manifold.
- Check battery Ground strap and ground connection between battery and transmission.
Procedure:
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217- is located on the foot pedal bracket in the left-side footwell.
- Switch ignition off.
- Unlock in direction shown (arrow) and disconnect multi-pin connector from Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.
- Connect VAG1598/18 test box to TCM multi-pin connector (arrow -1-) and lock in direction shown (arrow -2-).
Wiring can be checked according to wiring diagrams, using the VAG1598/18 test box.
After Electrical Testing:
- Re-connect and lock multi-pin connector on Transmission Control Module (TCM) -J217-.
NOTE: When installing, make sure that the guides (arrows) are placed over the pins on the control module.
