Testing If Scan Tool Displays "Error In Communications Link"
Checking Wiring Connections When Scan Tool Displays "Error In Communication Link"
1. Isolate wiring for other On Board Diagnostic systems (with rapid data transfer) from white DLC, terminal 2.
2. Disconnect wires one at a time from K-wire connection (in auxiliary relay panel 1).
3. Select "rapid data transfer" operating mode 1 and insert "Brake Electronics" address word 03 after each system is disconnected.
NOTE: For details of other systems with OBD => wiring diagrams.
4. If the scan tool shows ABS control module identification:
- Check wiring to most recently disconnected system, using wiring diagrams.
5. If there is no faulty wiring found:
- Replace control module for most recently disconnected OBD system.
- Reconnect all wiring.
NOTE: If the scan tool displays "Control module does not answer" the wiring to the ABS control module -J104- has now also been disconnected.
