Wiring to Transmission Control Module
Perform this test if:- the Output Diagnostic Test Mode indicates malfunctions in or between transmission and Transmission Control Module -J217-.
- the electrical test indicates malfunctions in or between transmission and Transmission Control Module -J217-.
Test requirements
- Ignition switched oft
- Connect test box VAG 1598 with adapter cable VAG 1598/20 only to the 88-pin connector of the transmission wiring harness.
- Read test box VAG 1598 outside of the car:
- Remove noise insulation panel.
- Remove bracket -1- for noise panel
- Release bayonet lock of 16-pin connector of transmission by turning it.
- Test wiring connections with digital multimeter Fluke 83 (USi 119) between the contacts of 16-pin connector and sockets of test box VAG 1598 for continuity.
NOTE:
- If this test of the wiring connection does not reveal any impermissible differences, it is then necessary to test the wiring harness in the transmission; Removing and installing valve body.
- Do not replace the corresponding solenoid valves until after satisfactory testing the wiring harness in transmission; Removing and installing valve body.
Checking wiring connection between Multi-Function Transmission Range Switch -F1 25- and Transmission Control Module -J217-.
- Pull spring lock of 8-pin connector -2- off connector to multifunction switch wiring.
- Test wiring connections with digital multimeter Fluke 83 (USi 119) between contacts of 8-pin connector and sockets of test box VAG 1598 for continuity. - Resistances table below.
NOTE:
- If this test of the wiring connection does not reveal any impermissible differences, the Multi-Function TR Switch -F125- should then be replaced.
