All Wheel Drive

Rear wheel brake with automatic adjustment (100/A6 models)

CAUTION: Always install all parts included in repair kit.
Brakes can be tested on any commercially available brake dynamometer provided the drive roller speed does not exceed 5.5 km/h (3.3 mph).
Before checking the brakes on a dynamometer, make sure the differential lock is switched off.







1. Self-locking bolt
Always replace
35 Nm (20 ft lb)
When loosening and tightening, hold guide bolt

2. Brake pads
Replace in pairs
Thickness (new): 12 mm (0.47 in)
Wear limit: 2 mm (0.08 in)
When pad thickness including backing plate is down to 7 mm (0.28 in.), brake pads have reached their wear limit and should be replaced

3. Brake carrier with guide bolts and protective caps
Is supplied as replacement part, assemble with sufficient grease on guide bolts
If protective caps have been damaged, install repair kit Part No.443 698 470
Use grease pad provided in repair kit to lubricate guide pins

4. Mounting bolt 65 Nm (48 ft lb)

5. Brake disc
Replace in pairs
Remove brake caliper first
Resurface uniformly on both sides when necessary, starting from thickness when new; make sure that thickness of resurfaced disc is sufficiently above wear limit
Diameter: 245 mm (9.645 in)
Thickness: 10 mm (0.39 in)
Wear limit: 8 mm (0.315 in)

6. Brake caliper housing
Remove from brake pad carrier to replace brake pads
Do not disconnect brake hose when replacing brake pads
