Headliner removed.
Removing front seal
- Remove screws (arrows) from seal retaining strip -1-.
- Bend roof frame seal -1- up, remove front screw and loosen screws underneath (arrows).
- Remove roof frame seal toward side.
- Remove first screw (arrow) and remove support bracket -1-.
Notes:
• On later versions the support bracket is riveted to the stiffener rail
• When the seal is adjusted correctly, the support bracket must seat against the inside of the seal.
Removing center and rear seals
Note: Before removing seals, open the convertible top until there is sufficient access to the center seal The ends of the center and rear seals must not be touching.
- Bend seal upward and loosen screws underneath. Do not remove screws.
- Remove center seal toward side.
- Use same procedure to remove rear seal.
Note: The corners of the seal are glued onto the convertible top frame (arrow). When installing, glue this area back onto the roof frame using D 001 200 or equivalent.

Convertible top cover, removing
To remove convertible top cover from cross rails:
- Pull in direction -A-, then pull in direction -B- (arrows).
- Remove screw for tensioning wire and pull tensioning wire out of convertible top cover from front.
- Remove retaining screw for tensioning strap.
- Pull and remove tensioning strap through loop.
- Pull convertible top cover away from inside of roof frame. Cover is glued in place.
- Pull off convertible top cover at sides underneath seals that were previously removed.
- Drill out rivet head -A- from linkage and remove tensioning strap -1-.
Note: On later vehicles the tensioning strap is secured to the linkage further toward the rear (arrow -B-).
- Pull convertible top cover off rear cross rail -1-.
- Pull convertible top cover off inside of rear frame section.
- Carefully pull cover off header rail. Be careful not to damage self-adhesive foam backing.
- Pull complete convertible top cover off roof frame toward rear. Do not remove screws (arrows).
