Lower hydraulic cylinder hoses, removing and installing

Note: For replacement purposes, the hydraulic hoses are only supplied in pairs (supply and return hoses). The convertible top frame must first be lifted out of the vehicle before disconnecting the hydraulic hoses from the lower hydraulic cylinder When removing the hydraulic hoses, start from the hydraulic pump.

- Remove luggage compartment trim.
- Remove hydraulic pump from bracket. Service and Repair






- Remove connecting plate -1- from hydraulic pump.






- Using small screwdriver, pry retaining rings -1- (of hydraulic hoses to be removed) over collars on connection fittings (supply and return) and remove retaining rings.

CAUTION: When installing, install new retaining rings using special tool 3335.

- Unclip hydraulic hoses (that require replacement) from clips located under storage compartment floor.
- Cut open tie wraps as necessary.
- Remove hydraulic hoses from connecting plate.

Note: Prevent fluid from leaking out of open hydraulic connections.

- Spread out plastic sheeting (or equivalent) to protect storage compartment from leaked hydraulic fluid.
- Pull hydraulic hoses (that require replacement) through as far as storage compartment and position open ends of hydraulic hoses outside vehicle.
- Mark position of convertible top frame -5- on both sides.






- Loosen bolts -3- and nuts -2-, and remove spacers -6-.

Note: When installing, re-install spacers -6- in their original positions. Spacers -7- and -8- remain in the vehicle.

- Fully remove bolts -3- with washers -4-, and nuts -2- with washers -1-.
- Cut open tie wraps as necessary.
- Lift convertible top frame out of vehicle (two technicians required).






- Cover top edge of partition panel (arrow) with adhesive tape to prevent damage to paint.






- Place wooden beam (or equivalent) across vehicle onto top edges of partition panels as shown. Third technician required.
- Place rear of brackets -1- onto wooden beam on both sides.

Notes: Two technicians must hold convertible top horizontal when disconnecting hydraulic hoses from one or both lower hydraulic cylinders.
The wooden beam must be long enough to support the rear of the brackets.






- Cut open tie wrap on outside of bracket.

Notes: When installing the hydraulic hoses, the marking (arrow) must be below the tie wrap.
Mark the letters identifying the hydraulic hoses on the hydraulic cylinder

- Remove union nuts from connections.

- Install new hydraulic hoses.
Union nut tightening torque: 28 Nm (21 ft lb).

CAUTION: Do not interchange the hydraulic hoses when connecting.






- Route hydraulic hoses and electrical wiring as shown and secure with tie wraps -1-.
