Air Injection Vacuum Control Solenoid Valve: Testing and Inspection

ELECTRICAL CHECKS
- Disconnect Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve -N112- harness connector.

Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve:

- Measure resistance between valve connector terminals using multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent).

Specified Value: 25-35 ohms.

If the specified value is not obtained:
- Replace secondary air injection solenoid valve.

CHECKING VOLTAGE SUPPLY
- Disconnect secondary air injection solenoid valve harness connector -N112-.

2 Pin Harness Connector:

- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between terminal 1 (positive) of the disconnected harness connector and Ground (GND).
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger fuel pump relay -J17-.

Voltage tester LED must light up.

If LED does not light up, perform the following tests:
- Check secondary air injection solenoid valve fuse.
- Check wiring for continuity between terminal 1 on connector and fuse using wiring diagram.

Specified Value: maximum 0.5 ohms.

- Check fuel pump relay and actuation.

CHECKING ACTUATION

2 Pin Harness Connector:

- Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between connector terminals 1 and 2.
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger secondary air injection solenoid valve -N112-.

Voltage tester LED must flash.

If LED does not blink or lights up continuously:
- Connect test box VAG 1598/19.

If LED lights up continuously:
- Check wiring for continuity between connector terminal 2 and test box socket E2.
- If necessary eliminate short to ground or break in wiring between secondary air injection solenoid valve connector terminal 2 and ECM connector E, terminal 2.
- If the wiring is OK, replace ECM.
