Manually Adjustable Steering Column, Steering Lock Housing, Removing and Installing
Removing

WARNING:
- Before removing the steering column, make sure the wheels are in the straight ahead position.
- Observe the safety precautions for working on airbags.

Non compliance with the above can cause failure of the airbag systems
- Remove driver-side airbag unit.
- Remove steering wheel.
- Remove steering column switch.
- On vehicles with automatic transmission, disengage lock cable.





- Drill out or chisel off shear bolts using suitable chisel -1-.

Installing
- Install new shear bolts.
- Tighten shear bolts until heads shear off.
- On vehicles with automatic transmission, engage lock cable.
- Check function of lock cable.
- Install steering column switch.
- Install steering wheel.
- Install driver-side airbag unit, refer to Restraint Systems.
