Pressure Testing






1. Unclip top engine cover and remove.





2. Unbolt ribbed belt cover.
3. Pinch off suction hose with hose clamp tool No. 3094, or equivalent.





4. Press spring clip and disconnect harness connector from fuel injector.
5. Unbolt line from flexible hose (arrow).
- Counter-hold at hex on flexible hose for this step.





6. Screw adapter tool No. US 1074/4A, or equivalent, into line in place of flexible hose.

NOTE: US 1074/4A is used in place of VAG 1402/3 shown in illustration.





7. Screw pressure gauge hose onto adapter.
8. Close pressure gauge shut-off valve (lever positioned on the left).
9. Reconnect fuel injector harness connector.
10. Remove hose clamp from suction hose.
11. Start engine.
12. With engine idling, read power steering pump pressure on gauge (do not measure for longer than 10 seconds).
- Specification: 110 -120 bar (1595-1740 psi).

NOTE: If the measured value is not within the specification, replace the power steering pump.

13. Bleed steering system.
14. Check hydraulic fluid level.
15. Check steering system for leaks. Testing and Inspection
