NOTE:
^ Do not weld or straighten steering components.
^ Top off power steering fluid.

1 Steering Gear
- Removing repairing and installing. Service and Repair
- After installing, place steering wheel spoke in horizontal position and fasten
- Gear ratio: 18.9:1
- After replacing, adjust toe. Service and Repair

CAUTION:
^ The wheels must be turned to the straight-ahead position before removing the steering gear and steering wheel.
^ This ensures that the airbag spiral spring in the steering wheel will not be damaged.

2 Wheel Housing

3 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)

4 Tie Rod Joint, Right
- Removing and installing. Service and Repair

5 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)

6 -Tie Rod, Right
- Installing. Service and Repair

7 Bolts
- Tighten to: 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.)
- When tightening, vehicle must be resting on its wheels

8 Bolt

9 Safety Plate
- Always replace

10 Carrier
- Always install in both holes of boot

11 Nut
- Tighten to: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)

12 O-Rings/Copper Seals
- Always replace

13 Banjo Bolts
- Tighten to: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.)
- Note different types of O-rings and copper seals

14 Pressure Hose
- Connect to rotary slide valve housing
- Note different versions with O-rings and copper seals

15 Return Hose
- Connect to rotary slide valve housing
- Note different versions with O-rings and copper seals

16 Washer

17 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

18 Steering Column
- Attach to universal joint

19 Universal Joint
- Remove before removing steering gear
- Place on steering pinion and fasten with locking bolt

20 Locking Bolt
- Always replace

21 Washer

22 Self-Locking Nut
- Always replace
- Tighten to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

23 Instrument Panel Seal
- Remove before removing steering gear
- Ensure correct seat on instrument panel

24 Bolt
- Tighten to: 50 Nm (37 ft lbs.)

25 Wheel Housing, Left.

26 Tie Rod, Left.
- Installing. Service and Repair

27 Threaded Piece
- Adjust toe on both tie rods


28 Tie Rod End, Left.
- Removing and installing. Service and Repair

29 Lock Nut
- Tighten to: 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
