Steering Column: Adjustments

NOTE:
^ Cable adjustment is shown with steering column removed.
^ Lock steering column to set the gap -A-.

1. Remove driver side storage shelf under instrument panel, refer to Body and Frame.





2. Pull cable -1- in direction of arrow enough so locking mechanism -3- does not move.
3. Check that gap -A- = 3-3.5 mm(0.12-0.138 inch).
- Adjust if necessary.





4. Check fore/aft adjustment by swinging lever -1- down and pushing steering column -4- back and forth in steering column tube -3-.
5. If steering column sticks, correct by turning adjusting nut -2-, decrease gap -A- slightly until proper clearance of steering column in column tube is achieved.
6. Lock adjusting nut with sealing paint to prevent it from turning
7. Install driver side lower storage shelf.
