Oil Retension Valves






NOTE:
^ During removal and installation procedures, refer to the component location illustration above and component notes below.
^ Seals and gaskets should always be replaced.
^ All of the components shown on the illustration above can be removed and installed with the engine installed.

Component Notes And Information

1 Oil Seal, Oil Pump Drive
- Replacing, refer to Oil Pump Seal. Service and Repair
2 Oil Seal, Crankshaft
- Replacing, refer to Replacement. Service and Repair
3 Oil Pump Drive
4 Bolt, tighten to: 10 Nrn (89 inch lb)
5 Bolt, tighten to: 80 Nrn (59 ft lb)
6 Bolt, tighten to: 35 Nrn (26 ft lb)
7 Bolt, tighten to: 10 Nrn (89 in. lb)
8 Circlips
9 Plug, tighten to: 35 Nm (26 ft lb)
10 Oil Retention Valves

Removal

NOTE: The oil retention valves are located on both banks of cylinders under the intake manifold.





1. Disconnect wiring connections between brake booster and intake manifold.
2. Detach vacuum line at cruise control control module.
3. Disconnect accelerator pedal cable at throttle body and thrust plate and expose.
4. Disconnect harness connectors for left and right knock sensors at fuel rail and cut open cable ties (4 places).
5. Disconnect harness connectors at fuel injectors.
6. Unbolt fuel rail and carefully detach along with fuel injectors and place down to one side (fuel supply and return lines remain connected).





7. Unbolt intake manifold and lift out.
8. Remove cylinder block ventilation cover along with bulk
9. Remove oil retention valve circlip.
10. Thread bolt (6 x 50 mm) with large washer into oil retention valve.
11. Pry out oil retention valve.

Installation
Reverse procedure to install.
