Leaks at Rear of Vehicle, Repairing
Leaks at rear of vehicle, repairingIf water has entered under rear seat bench:
- Remove side trim pieces and make sure that seals underneath are properly installed.
• Upper seal -1- must lie behind seal -2-, as shown.
If upper seal -1- is fitted over seal -2-, any water that enters cannot drain off toward the outside and will instead run down under the rear seat.
• Pressure/vacuum hose for central locking system must be straight where it is routed through grommet.
If the bent part of the pressure/vacuum hose goes through the grommet, any water that comes through can run along the pressure/vacuum hose and into the area under the rear seat.
Note: Seal all holes and passages for hoses and wiring etc. with sealing compound.
• To prevent water from entering vehicle interior through side seal -2-, side seal must not be in contact with seal for convertible top compartment -1-.
To prevent water from entering interior through side seal -2-:
- Glue on 5 mm (13/64 in.) thick spacer (rubber pad, arrow -A-) as shown using D 001 200 (or equivalent).
• Water must be able to drain off between side seal and seal for convertible top compartment.
^ Side seal can be also be glued to stop pad (arrow -B-) using D 001 200 (or equivalent)
CAUTION! Part numbers are listed here for reference only.
• Side seal -2- must be at same height as seal for convertible top compartment; if not:
- Extend seal by glueing on suitable piece of rubber.
CAUTION! Convertible top, when closed, must not push the upper rear corner. Round off corner by cutting to shape if necessary.
• Front part of side seal must be positioned inside side trim and must not lie between side window and window slot seal on side trim.
