Rear brakes, servicingCAUTION: Always install all the parts that are included in the repair kit.
Brakes can be tested on any commercially available brake dynamometer provided the drive roller speed does not exceed 5.5 km/h (3.3 mph).
1. Brake Disc
Replace as pair on both wheels
Removing: first remove brake caliper
Resurface evenly on both sides only, starting from thickness when new
Make sure thickness after resurfacing is sufficiently above wear limit
Diameter: 245 mm (9.65 in)
Thickness: 10 mm (0.394 in)
Wear limit: 8 mm (0.315 in)
2. Brake Pads
Replace as complete set on both wheels.
Pad thickness (new): 12 mm (0.473 in)
Wear limit: 2 mm (0.079 inch)
Pad thickness, checking, refer to Brake Pad/Testing and Inspection/Procedures Testing and Inspection
When pad thickness is 7 mm (0.276 in) including backing plate, brake pads have reached their wear limit and must be replaced
3. Socket-Head Bolt 60 Nm (44 ft lb)
4. Brake Pad Carrier With Guide Pins And Protective Cap
Replacement part supplied assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins
Install repair kit if protective caps are damaged
Use grease included with kit to grease guide pins
5. Brake caliper housing
Remove from brake pad carrier to replace brake pads
Do not disconnect brake hoses
6. Self-Locking Bolt 35 Nm (26 ft lb)
Always replace
Loosening and tightening: counter-hold at guide pin
7. Parking Brake Lever
Connect parking brake cable
8. Parking Brake Cable
Adjusting, refer to Brake Caliper/Adjustments Adjustments
9. Clip
Fastens parking brake cable to bracket
