Ribbed Belt, Removing and Installing

Ribbed belt, removing and installing

Caution: Mark the running direction of the belt with a crayon or marker before removing. Reinstalling a used belt in reversed running could damage the belt.

Note:
Ribbed belt routing has been revised. If it becomes necessary to replace the ribbed belt tensioner, install the modification kit Part No.078998 133, which eliminates the idler pulley and replaces the ribbed belt with a shorter one. Also see Technical Bulletin 13-94-02.

Removing

- Remove ribbed belt guard.

- Using 10 mm hex-key wrench, turn downward in direction shown (arrow) to loosen ribbed belt.
- Remove ribbed belt.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- Place ribbed belt over drive pulleys first, then over idler pulley (where applicable) and onto tensioning roller last.
- Install ribbed belt guard.
