Seat Belt Systems: Service Precautions
CAUTION!
- Always replace selflocking bolts.
- The slave sensor flexible shaft must not be twisted when installing and it must be connected in the plastic clip.
- Perform seat belt functional test the seat belt must pull out of the retractor in all back rest positions.
- Testing, removing, installing and repairs may only be carried out by Qualified personnel.
- When connecting the belt tensioner make sure all mechanical parts, including the three-point seat belt, are correctly installed.
- No more than one person should be in the vehicle while work is being carried out.
- Seat belt tensioner components must not be opened or repaired; always use new parts.
- Seat belt tensioners units that have been dropped from a height greater than 50 cm (2 ft) must not be installed in a vehicle.
- Seat belt tensioner units that are mechanically damaged (dents, cracks) must be replaced.
CAUTION!
- The belt tensioner unit should be installed immediately after removing it from its packaging.
- If work is interrupted, return the tensioner unit to its packaging until work can continue.
- Do not point open end of belt tensioner at people.
- Always wash your hands after touching seat belt tensioners that have been activated.
- Storing and shipping is governed through hazardous materials regulation.
- Do not leave a tensioner unit unattended if it has been removed from its packaging.
- Do not contaminate the belt tensioner unit with any foreign materials such as grease, cleaning fluid or similar substances.
- Belt tensioner units MUST NOT be exposed to temperatures over 100 °C (212 °F), sparks or open flames.
