Windshield Wiper, Assembly

Windshield Wiper Assembly, Servicing:






WARNING!
Always switch the ignition off before working on a windshield wiper motor or mechanism that is still installed.


NOTE: The windshield wiper motor must be removed as an assembly along with the wiper frame. While removing, the wiper arms must be in a certain position See Fig 1.


1 - Wiper blade
2 - Wiper arm

- Adjusting See Fig. 2
3 - Cover
4 - M8 nut

- 16 Nm (12 ft. lb..)
5 - Washer
6 - Actuating rod, left

- Pry off
- Coat ball socket with MoS2 grease
7 - Windshield wiper frame
- Bearings are pressed in permanently
- Entire assembly must be replaced as a unit
- Removing See Fig. 1
8 - Clip
9 - Washer
10 - Screw
11 - Wiper motor

- Can only be removed or installed once wiper frame -7- has been removed
Removing:
- Pry up actuating rods
- Remove 3 mounting screws
12 - Rubber plate
13 - Bushing
14 - Bolts
15 - Crank

- Installed position See Fig. 3
16 - Nut
- 22 Nm (16 ft. lb)
17 - Actuating rod, right
- Pry off
- Coat ball socket with MoS2 grease

- Switch ignition on.
- Run windshield wipers.

When left wiper arm reaches angle -a- (approx. 45°): - Switch ignition off.
- Switch ignition off.
- Remove wiper motor along with frame.


WARNING!
Always switch the ignition off before working on a windshield wiper motor or mechanism that is still installed.

NOTE: Before installing wiper arms, make sure that the windshield wiper motor is in the "Park" position. This is done by switching the ignition on, with the windshield wipers switched off.


Passenger side
- Position edge of wiper blade arm as shown (arrows -b-).
b = 90 mm (3-9/16 in.)
- Tighten wiper arm.
Tightening torque: 16 Nm (12 ft lb)

Driver's side
- Position edge of wiper blade arm as shown (arrows -a-).
a = 65 mm (2-9/16 in.)
- Tighten wiper arm.
Tightening torque: 16 Nm (12 ft lb.)

NOTE: Before connecting the crank, make sure that the windshield wiper motor is in the "Park" position. This is done by switching the ignition on, with the windshield wipers switched off.
