Retaining Plate For Rearview Mirror, Installing

Repair Method Using Glass/metal Glue
Materials

Glass/metal glue set D 000 703 A1







Special Tools And Equipment

1 - Standard glass scraper
2 - Standard blade
- Pull mirror plate out of mirror base.
- Using wire brush, remove any remaining adhesive from mirror plate.
- Using sandpaper (360/400 grit) on level surface, sand three distancer knobs on adhesive surface.
Keep sanded surface free of dirt and grease.
- Using glass scraper, scrape adhesive and primer down to ceramic layer on windshield.
- Clean adhesive surface using adhesive remover D 002 000 10 or cleaning solution D 009 401 04.

CAUTION: Do not damage the ceramic layer. Scratches will be permanently visible.

- Cut nylon mesh to exact dimensions of mirror base.

NOTE: Wear rubber gloves.

- Spread thick layer of adhesive evenly on mirror base.
- Lay nylon mesh on mirror base.
- While applying more adhesive, use tube to tap lightly on nylon mesh.
30 seconds are available between applying adhesive to nylon mesh and pressing onto windshield.
- Press mirror base (without force) onto windshield and hold for 15 seconds.
- Use cloth to remove excess adhesive.

NOTE: Install rearview mirror after 15 minutes.

CAUTION:
- Use adhesive at room temperature and follow all safety and usage instructions from the manufacturer.
- The material completely hardens after a few hours.








Dimension for rearview mirror with ball joint: dimension - a - = 125 mm (lower edge of cover strip to middle of adhesive plate/mirror base).
