Final Drive/Transmission Housing Seal, Replacing

FINAL DRIVE/TRANSMISSION HOUSING SEAL, REPLACING

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items
^ VW681 extractor lever
^ 3383 double seal installer
^ VAG1358A oil extractor

NOTES:
^ A faulty oil seal will allow ATF or gear oil to escape into the torque converter bellhousing through the center breather (between the two sealing lips) of the shaft seal.
^ A faulty oil seal will also allow ATF to enter the final drive; this will then become overfilled, and oil will escape through the breather.
