Remote Control Key, Programming
- Two remote control keys are delivered with the vehicle.
- If additional keys are needed, they must be programmed to the control module for central locking.
- In addition, the keys must be reprogrammed if a DTC between 00955 and 00958 has been displayed, or if the battery is replaced in the remote control key.
Programming A New Remote Control Key
- Switch ignition on (with an additional key).
- Check in display group 007 to See how many keys have already been programmed See "Read Measuring Value Block (Function 08)".

Display field 3 shows how many remote control keys have been programmed and on what memory locations (example: 2 keys, on locations 1 and 2).
- Lock vehicle from outside at driver door lock using key to be programmed.
- Within 5 sec., press "open" on remote control key often enough until next open storage location has been reached (3 times in example).
Each time the button is pressed, it is acknowledged with the emergency flasher.
- Wait 5 seconds.
- Press "open" button again (vehicle unlocks).
- Switch ignition off and remove ignition key.
- Check function of new remote control key.
- Check display field 3 in display group 007. Another "1" must now be there (in example: 1110).
NOTE: Make sure that the new keys are always programmed to an open memory location. If used memory locations are used (recogonized by a "1"), the remote control key that is programmed on this memory location is no longer functional.
Reprogramming Available Remote Control Keys
NOTE: This is necessary after replacing the battery in the remote control key, or if one of the DTCs between 00955 and 00958 is displayed.
- Press one button of remote control key.
If the vehicle does not lock or unlock:
- Lock and unlock vehicle within 30 seconds using driver's door lock.
- Check function of remote control key that has been reprogrammed.
