Condition
Front door window(s) are stiff or do not operate when opening or closing.
Technical Background
May be caused by a broken plastic window mount (Figure 1, Point 3) of window lifter mechanism (Figure 1, Point 2) in area of cable anchor cavity.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
Install new plastic window mounts as follows:
1. Move window (Figure 1, Point 6) to lowest position.
2. Remove front door trim. See Repair Manual � Body Interior, Repair Group 70.
3. Mark position of component carrier on door using a fine felt-tip pen or equivalent.
4. Remove component carrier (Figure 1, Point 1). See front door and door component carrier, removing, in Repair Manual � Body Exterior, Front Doors, Repair Group 57.
5. Remove bolts (Figure 1, Point 4) and open plastic window mount tabs.
6. Lift window from plastic window mounts (Figure 1, Point 3).
7. Remove damaged window mount from regulator. Rotate damaged window mount in direction of arrow shown in Figure 2.
8. Remove damaged plastic window mount from regulator cable.
9. Install new plastic window mount (Part No. 4B0 837 463) to regulator cable ensuring crimped ferrule is located in mount cavity as shown in Figure 3.
10. Apply grease (Part No. G 000 450 02) liberally to regulator where window mount travels along channel.
11. Install plastic window mount to regulator. Rotate the plastic window mount in the direction of arrow shown in Figure 4.
12. Repeat procedure for remaining plastic window mount. Both plastic window mounts must be replaced.
13. Install window to regulator, position glass according to instructions in Repair Manual � Body Exterior, Front Doors, Repair Group 57 for installing new window.
14. Install component carrier to door. See Repair Manual� Body Exterior, Front Doors, Repair Group 5 � Front door and door component Carrier, installing.
15. Check and adjust component carrier as outlined in Repair Manual to prevent wind leaks.
16. Install door trim panel, see Repair Manual � Body Interior, Repair Group 70.
