Installation
NOTE: During removal procedures, refer to the component location illustration above and component notes below.
Component Notes And Information
1 Bolt, tighten to: 10 Nm (89 in. lb)
2 Fuel Rail
3 Bolt, tighten to: 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
4 Nut, tighten to: 20 Nm (15 ft lb)
5 Two Stage Intake Manifold
6 Nut, tighten to: 10 Nm (89 in. lb)
7 Cylinder Head BoltsCylinder head bolts
- Always replace
- Loosen in reverse order of tightening sequence
8 Cylinder Head
- Checking for distortion, refer to Testing and Inspection. Testing and Inspection
- Refacing dimension, refer to Resurface
9 Bolt, tighten to: 10 Nm (89 in. lb)
10 Bolt, tighten to: 10 Nm (89 in. lb)
11 Bolt, tighten to: 55 Nm (41 ft lb)
- Use holder 3036
12 Cylinder Head Gasket
- Identification lettering must face upward
Procedure
1. Clean sealing surfaces.
2. Install cylinder head gasket.
- Marking "OBEN" (top) on gasket must face upward, toward cylinder head.
3. Position cylinder head on cylinder block using centering pins.
4. Install cylinder head.
5. Install cylinder head bolts and hand tighten.
Cylinder Head Tightening Sequence:
6. With Engine cold, using the sequence shown, tighten cylinder head bolts in steps, as follows:
Step 1, tighten in sequence to: 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Step 2, Tighten in sequence to: 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
Step 3, turn an additional: 1/2-turn (180°).
NOTE:
^ Carry out the additional 1/2-turn using a rigid wrench without lifting off the wrench
^ Two steps of 1/4-turn (90°) are also permissible.
^ It is not necessary to re-tighten the cylinder head bolts during regular service or after repairs.
7. Before installing the intake manifold, first install the front vent hose located below the intake manifold on the engine.
8. Reverse remaining removal steps to install.
