Climate Control Components, Passenger Compartment
Climate Control Components, Passenger Compartment
NOTE:
- After performing repairs, always check and erase the DTC memory, perform basic setting and check coding of A/C control head -E87-.
- A/C system cooling performance.
- A/C system servicing.
- All components identified with an asterisk (*) are actuated during output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM).
- An electrical test is possible at all the components identified with two asterisks (**).
- The air outlets to the windshield (defrost) can only be replaced if the instrument panel is removed. Separate instrument panel and instrument panel cross member.
1 - Kick-down switch
- Depending on vehicle equipment and momentary vehicle speed, A/C clutch is switched off on acceleration by either Engine Control Module (ECM) or Transmission Control Module (TCM).
2 - A/C control head -E87-
- Replacing bulbs of A/C control head panel
NOTE:
- Vehicles with Nippondenso compressor may only have A/C control heads beginning with index installed
- Depending on the equipment level of the vehicle, different versions of A/C control head -E87- are installed (with and without sensor for air quality, etc.).
3 - Instrument panel interior temperature sensor -G56- **
4 - Data Link Connector (DLC) for VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST)
- Connecting VAG1551 and testing A/C system.
5 - Lower air outlet in right (left) of instrument panel
6 - Upper air outlet in right (left) of instrument panel
7 - Side window air outlet in right (left) of instrument panel
8 - Right center vent switch -F184-**
9 - Center vent position sensor -G142-**
10 - Sunlight photo sensor -G107-**
11 - Left center vent switch -F183-**
12 - Auto check system with outside air temperature display -G106- *
- Outside air temperature supplied by -E87- is only displayed when a Drive mode is engaged.
- For vehicles with A/C control head -E87- with part number as of index "M", the displayed temperature is calculated directly in the instrument cluster and displayed there with the selected unit of °C or °F.
NOTE: If readout is faulty, test measured values of temperature sensors.
