Engine Control Module (ECM) Coding, Checking

If vehicle coding information is not as specified:
- Replace ECM.


NOTE:
- Vehicle information is "hard coded" into the ECM. Service coding of the ECM is not possible
- Coding versions may be checked (only) using the VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST).
- While checking coding versions, the 5-digit ECM code must always be displayed.


- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) and press buttons -0- and -1- to insert "Engine Electronics" address word 01 (ignition switched on). [1][2]Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks
