Lock Cylinder, Removing and Installing
Removing
- Steering column switch, removing.
For vehicles with automatic transmission, locking cable must be disengaged
- Place selector lever in position "P."
- Switch ignition key in position -B- to "Ignition ON."
- Then lift interlock lever -1- slightly and pull locking cable -2- from ignition lock housing.
NOTE: Spare key/valet key is required to remove lock cylinder The following procedure is only possible for ignition keys with flat key grip, i.e. without illumination and without remote control.
- Insert spare key/valet key in ignition lock and turn to position "Ignition ON", this will reveal the opening/hole in front of the lock next to the ignition key slot.
- Insert length of steel wire -1- (approx. 1.5 mm dia) as far as it will go, as shown. Then pull lock cylinder out of steering lock housing -2- in direction of arrow -B-.
Installing
- Insert spare key/valet key in the lock cylinder and turn to position "Ignition on." Then re-insert steel wire as far as it will go into the hole in front of lock.
- Push lock cylinder together with ignition key all the way into steering lock housing.
- Pull wire out and push in lock cylinder firmly until catch engages audibly.
- Install steering column switches and steering wheel in reverse order of removal.
