Downshift Switch: Testing and Inspection

- VAG1526 A multimeter







- VAG1594 A connector test kit

Test sequence


NOTE: Check kick-down switch function in read measuring value block function 08.


- Remove left front floor matt.







- Unscrew cover for kick-down switch -arrow-.
- Disconnect 2-pin harness connector from kickdown switch -F8 (item 12), refer to "Accelerator Pedal Linkage (Vehicles With Electronic Throttle Control), Servicing" under "/Powertrain Management/Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Throttle Cable/Linkage" Service and Repair







- Carefully lift safety latch -arrow- and turn stop counter clockwise.
- Remove kick-down switch.
- Connect multimeter to kick-down switch (resistance range)
Specification: infinity Ohm (no continuity)
- Press Kick-Down switch
- Shortly after kick-down point, reading must drop to 0 Ohm.
