Power Window Lockout Switch: Service and Repair

Power Window Switches, Removing/Installing
- Disconnect harness connector.
- Using a small screwdriver, pry switch out of retainers - arrows - at the side, and carefully pry or press out switch.
- When installing, press switch in from below until retainers engage audibly.

Rear Power Window Lock Out Switch (E39):

Rear Power Window Lock Out Switch (E39), Removing/Installing
- Insert small screwdriver in slots - arrows -, press toward center of switch, and carefully press switch out.
- To install, press switch in from below until retainers engage audibly.





Window Regulator Switches, Checking
- Disconnect power window switch.
- Connect ohmmeter to contacts 5 and 2, then to contacts 3 and 1. Specified value: 0 Ohms
- Connect ohmmeter to contacts 4 and 2. Specified value: infinity Ohms
- Press switch in "down" direction. Specified value: 0 Ohm
- Connect ohmmeter to contacts 4 and 1. Specified value: infinity Ohms.
- Press switch in "up" direction. Specified value: 0 Ohm





Rear Window Lockout Switch (E39), Checking
- Connect ohmmeter to contacts 2 and 3. Switch not depressed. Specified value: infinity Ohms
- Switch depressed. Specified value: 0 Ohms.
- Replace switch if out of specification.
