Rear wheel brakes with automatic adjustment





1. Self-locking bolts
^ Always replace
^ 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.)
^ When loosening and tightening counter-hold on guide pin
2. Brake pads
^ Always replace pads on both sides of axle
^ Thickness when new: 11 mm (0.433 inch)
^ Checking thickness
^ Wear limit: 2 mm (0.079 inch)
^ Wear limit: 7 mm (0.276 inch) (including backing plate)
3. Ribbed combo-bolt
^ 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
4. Brake carrier with guide pins and protective cap
^ Supplied as replacement part assembled with sufficient grease on guide pins
^ If protective caps or guide pins are damaged use repair kit
^ Use grease packet supplied to lubricate guide pins
5. Ribbed combo-bolt
^ 95 Nm (70 ft. lbs.)
6. Brake disc
^ When worn, always replace in pairs only
^ Remove brake caliper before removing disc
^ Diameter: 245 mm (9.646 inch)
^ Thickness when new: 10 mm (0.394 inch)
^ Wear limit: 8 mm (0.315 inch)
7. Brake caliper housing
^ Do not disconnect brake hose when changing brake pads

CAUTION:
^ Do not disconnect the brake hose from the caliper when replacing brake pads.
^ Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose. The unsupported weight can stretch and damage the hose.
