0.35 Sq mm Wiring, Repairing
NOTES:
- Repair kit VAS 1978 includes repair wires of three different thicknesses (0.5, 1.5, and 4.0 sq mm cross sections), with corresponding crimp connectors.
- Use the 0.5 sq mm repair wire to repair 0.35 sq mm wiring.
- Perform repair as follows:
- Using wire strip pliers, strip ends of 0.35 mm sq mm wire so that length of bare metal is twice as long as required for connection, approx. 12-14 mm (1/2-9/16 in.).
- Fold back half the length of bare metal part.
- Using wire strip pliers, strip off ends of 0.5 sq mm wire, approx. 6-7 mm (1/4-9/32 in.).
- Push crimp connectors over wire ends and crimp at both sides with crimping pliers.
- Do not crimp the wire insulation.
- Be sure to use the correct crimping slot (red color code for 0.5 sq mm wires
- After crimping connector seal connector by shrinking it using hot air blower.
- Set hot air blower to correct temperature (refer to operator's manual).
- Heat crimp connector from center toward both ends until it is completely sealed and adhesive oozes out.
CAUTION! When heating the connector, be careful not to damage any other wiring, plastic parts or insulating material with the hot nozzle.
- If wire was originally taped, wrap it again with yellow insulating tape. If necessary, secure wiring with new cable ties.
