Crankshaft Seal, Replacing

Replacing front seal (pulley end).

Rear seal (dual-mass flywheel/drive plate side)

Note:
- If possible, always replace the seal together with the flange.
- Drain the engine coolant before removing the flange.
- Remove drive plate or pressure plate, clutch and dual-mass flywheel.





- Pry out seal using 10-221 extractor.
- Clean running and sealing surfaces.

Note: Do not lubricate sealing lip or outer edge of seal before pressing in.

- Push seal onto crankshaft using assembly aid.

Note: The assembly aid is supplied with the seal.





- Press in seal up to stop using 2003/3 seal installer and bolts for dual-mass flywheel or drive plate.
