Condition

Replacement radio hardshell connectors needed due to radio theft or harness failures at connectors.

Service

The following connectors and terminals are available through the Parts System:

CAUTION!
Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest parts information.

^ Red connector, 10-pin: 357 035 447B

^ Black connector, 8-pin: 357 035 447

^ Brown connector, 8-pin: 357 035 447A

^ Yellow connector, 6-pin: 4A0 972 643

^ Blue connector, 8-pin: 4A0 972 643B

^ Green connector, 6-pin: 4A0 972 643A

To make splice, use Wiring Harness Repair Kit VAS 1978.

Note:
Refer to VAS 1978 instructions for proper repair procedures.

For 1.0 mm wire:

- Use replacement terminal Part No. 000 979 133 with red splice connector, Part No. 111 971 940A.

- Crimp with Crimp Insert VAS 1978/2 set to RED position.

For 2.5 mm wire:

- Use replacement terminal Part No. 000 979 225 with blue splice connector, Part No. 111 971 939B.

- Crimp with Crimp Insert VAS 1978/2 set to BLUE position.

After crimping:

- Heat-shrink splice connectors and verify proper operation of radio and CD player (if equipped).

Note:
^ Each replacement terminal assembly comes with a terminal on both ends.
^ Splices should be staggered if possible to avoid making harness diameter too wide.
