Final Drive Cover O-Ring, Replacing

FINAL DRIVE COVER O-RING, REPLACING

Removing

WARNING: Only loosen the drive axle/wheel hub bolt and the wheel bolts when the vehicle is standing on its wheels.

- Remove right-front wheel.
- Remove right drive axle heat shield.
- Remove drive axle.
- Remove right transmission support.





- Remove drive flange bolt (arrow) (use pin to prevent flange from turning).
- Place oil drain pan under transmission.
- Pull out right drive flange.
- Remove bolts for final drive cover and remove cover.





- Replace O-ring (arrow).

Installing
Installation is the reverse of removal.





- Install cover for final drive.

Tightening sequence:
^ Stage 1: tighten bolts -1-, -2- and -3- by hand.
^ Stage 2: tighten bolts -1- to -12- to to final torque in specified sequence.

- Install right drive flange.
- With transmission installed, check final drive oil level and correct as necessary.
