NOTE:
^ To avoid noises and stresses in the exhaust system, the exhaust system should be aligned free of stress as follows:
^ Loosen all exhaust system bolted connections (except exhaust manifold) including fastening parts for TWC.
^ The dimensions listed are reference dimensions.
^ The exhaust system should be aligned when cold.
^ heck alignment at various points, in the order shown.

Checking Exhaust System Pre-LoaD





Check pre-load -a- at left retaining loop for rear silencer.
- Dimension -a- = approx. 10 mm (3/8 inch).
- Arrow points toward front of vehicle.

Aligning Tailpipes





Distance -a- equal on both sides
Distance -b- to bumper cut-out = approx. 20 mm (3/4 in.)

Checking Exhaust Pipe Clearance

- Clearance -a- = approx. 27 mm (1-1/16 in.)
- Clearance -b- = approx. 20 mm (3/4 in.)

Aligning Front Silencer





A - Front silencer
Align as shown
B - Driveshaft
a - Clearance: approx. 20 mm (3/4 inch).
b - Clearance: approx. 25 mm (1 inch).

NOTE: Front silencer is shown as viewed from the rear.

1. Tighten flanged connection between TWC and front silencer to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
2. Tighten bolts evenly so that flanges have the same amount of clearance ail around.
3. Tighten double clamp between TWC and front silencer to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Bolted connection must be aligned horizontally on right side of exhaust pipe.
5. Tighten flanged connections between exhaust manifold and front exhaust pipes, in several stages, to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
6. Tighten flanged connection between TWC and front silencer to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Tighten TWC hangers free of stress to: 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
