Antitheft and Alarm Systems: Description and Operation
NOTES:
- The ultrasonic interior monitoring adds to the anti-theft function by recognizing unauthorized intrusion into the interior by means of vehicle windows and displaying it over the anti- theft warning system.
- The vehicle doors are monitored via the door contact switches as before.
- The control module for interior monitoring features DTC memory, but On Board Diagnostic (OBD) using the VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) is not possible.
- If required, the interior monitoring (07.95 >) can be deactivated by a switch See Owner's Manual. The deactivation is automatically reactivated during the next locking function.
Function
The ultrasonic interior monitoring consists of:
- Control module for ultra-sound sensors -J347-
- Ultra-sound sensor, left for anti-theft warning system -G170-
- Ultra-sound sensor, right for anti-theft warning system -G171-
- Switch for passenger compartment monitoring -E183-
The ultra-sound sensors in the right and left upper B-pillar trim monitor the side windows and send a monitoring signal to the control module for ultra-sound sensors.
If the monitoring signal deviates, the control module for ultrasound sensors sets off off the alarm via the control module for anti-theft warning system.
The control module for the interior monitoring activates the control lamp in the switch for rear fog light. A diagnostic for the interior monitoring is possible over the control lamp, refer to "Interior Monitoring System Diagnostic". [1][2]Component Tests and General Diagnostics
