Emergency Start Function Using VAG1551


Using the emergency start function, a vehicle that has been immobilized via a locked immobilizer can be switched free and driven on its own engine power to the nearest Audi dealership.

Requirements
- Customer must prove him/herself to be an authorized vehicle user via vehicle papers and identification.
- VAG1551/1552 scan tool
- Secret number available, if not, see "Determining secret number". Under "Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Key Reminder Switch".
- Connect VAG1551 scan tool and initiate OBD of the anti-theft immobilizer using address word "17". Scan Tool Connecting

After control module identification is displayed:

- Press -> button.

- Perform login procedure for instrument cluster. Refer to "Login Procedure, Instrument Cluster" under "Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Instrument Panel". Testing and Inspection

- Press buttons -0- and -6-. This selects "End Output", function 06.

- Leave ignition switched on and start engine.


NOTE:
Once the emergency start procedure has been successfully completed, the warning lamp will light constantly and the immobilizer will be switched free:
- as long as the engine is running and the ignition key is inserted
- for 45 minutes, as long as the ignition key is inserter (engine not running)
- for 5 minutes, if ignition key is removed
- After three incorrect entries of the secret number, the immobilizer is locked.
- It is not possible to make another attempt for 10 minutes. During this time, the ignition must remain constantly switched on. This time is doubled after every third consecutive incorrect attempt, up to a maximum of 255 minutes.
- If no buttons or knobs are operated for more than 30 seconds during the input procedure, the emergency start attempt is aborted.
- If emergency start attempt is performed successfully, vehicle can be started within 45 minutes with the S-contact closed
- With S-contact open, i.e. vehicle key removed, engine can only be started within 5 minutes.
