VAS5051/VAG1551 Connecting and Selecting Functions
NOTE: The VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST) can be used instead of the VAG1551. However, the VAG1552 scan tool does not have printing capabilities.
Test conditions
- Battery voltage at least 11 V
- Ground (GND) connections on engine and transmission OK
- Fuse OK
- Ground (GND) connections and Ground point for transmission OK
- Check battery Ground (GND) strap and Ground strap between battery and transmission.
- Switch ignition off.
- Unclip cover for Data Link Connector (DLC), located under driver's side knee bar, behind steering wheel (left- side).
- Connect VAS5051 with VAS5051/1 adapter cable or VAG1551 Scan Tool (ST) with VAG1551/3B adapter cable to DLC.
WARNING!
- During road tests, vehicle, test equipment must always be fastened to and operated from the rear seat by a second technician
- Observe safety precautions.

NOTE:
If the display remains blank:

- Switch ignition on.
- Switch on printer by pressing PRINT button (indicator lamp in button lights up).
- Press button -1- to select "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1.

NOTE: In "Rapid data transfer" operating mode 1 the "Automatic Test Sequence" function 00 can be carried out. This checks the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory of all the vehicle control modules (that have OBD capabilities) automatically.
