Refrigerant R-134a


NOTE:
- When charging system on high pressure side, always use maximum amount of A/C refrigerant, as some refrigerant remains in hoses of refrigerant recovery, recycling and recharging unit.
- Since 11.97, valves with different size restrictors are installed (colored). Vehicles with change have 50 g more refrigerant.






- Drilling of small valve is colored yellow for identification.

Refrigerant (PAG) oil


NOTE: The PAG oil used in refrigerant system Part No. G 052 300 A2.

Part numbers are for reference only. Always check with your parts department for latest parts in formation.


NOTE:
- R-134a refrigerant oil (PAG oil) absorbs moisture very rapidly. Moisture combines with the refrigerant to form acids which will damage the system.
- Use only specified oil from a sealed container and ALWAYS reseal container immediately after use. DO NOT use oil if it has become contaminated with moisture or if oil container has been left open.
- Use only the specified synthetic oil (Polyalkylene Glycol or PAG) for the R-134a refrigerant system.
- Refrigerant oils used for R-134a and R-12 systems are NOT compatible. DO NOT use the oil for an R-12 system in an R-134a system. If refrigerant oils are mixed, the system will be contaminated and compressor failure may result.
- Use only approved refrigerant oils that have been released into the Audi parts system.
- Replacement A/C compressors supplied by the Parts Dept. are filled with 250 cc ± 20 cc (8.5 fl oz ± 0.7 fl oz) of refrigerant oil. This is the total A/C system refrigerant oil capacity.
- When A/C is switched on for the first time, the refrigerant oil is distributed throughout the entire system.
- When replacing A/C system components, add appropriate amount of refrigerant oil to component.
- Dispose of used refrigerant oil following laws governing hazardous waste disposal.
