Air Control Valve For Fuel Injectors, Electrical Testing
Air Control Valve For Fuel Injectors, Electrical Testing
- Disconnect harness connector from air control valve for fuel injectors -N212-.
- Connect multimeter US 1119 (Fluke 83 or equivalent) and check resistance across valve terminals.
Specified value: 15 - 35 ohms
If resistance is not OK:
- Replace air control valve for fuel injectors -N212-.
- Check readiness code. If DTC memory has been erased, generate new readiness code.
Refer to "Monitors, Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Code)/Checking, Readiness Code" Testing and Inspection
Refer to "Monitors, Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Code)/Generating, Readiness Code" Testing and Inspection
Checking voltage supply
- Fuse for air control valve for fuel injectors -N212- OK (E-box in plenum)
- Disconnect harness connector from air control valve for fuel injectors -N212-.
- Connect VAG1527B LED voltage tester between connector terminal 1 and Ground.
- Switch ignition on.
LED must light up
If LED does not light:
- Check wiring for open circuit between connector terminal 1, fuse for air control valve for fuel injectors -N212- (E-box in plenum), and Motronic ECM power supply relay.
If wiring is OK:
- Check Motronic ECM power supply relay. Refer to "Engine Control Module (ECM) Input Signals, Checking"
Checking actuation
- Connect VAG1527B LED voltage tester between harness connector terminals 1 (B+) and 2 (harness connector for air control valve remains connected).
- Start engine.
LED must light up.
NOTE:
- When engine is cold, the LED will light up at idle.
- When engine is at normal operating temperature, LED lights up only above approx. 1500 RPM.
If LED does not light up:
- Connect VAG1598/19 test box to ECM harness connector. Refer to "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/VAG1598/19 Test Box, Connecting" Testing and Inspection
- Check wiring between air control valve connector terminal 2 and ECM/test box socket D4.
- Check air hoses and lines (for air-shrouded fuel injectors) for leaks and blockage.
If air control valve, wiring, air hoses and lines are OK:
- Replace ECM and generate new readiness code. Refer to "Monitors, Trips and/or Drive Cycle (Readiness Code)/Generating, Readiness Code" Testing and Inspection
