Connection of Test Equipment




V.A.G 1551 Scan Tool, Connecting


NOTE: The scan tool V.A.G 1552 can be used instead of the scan tool V.A.G 1551, however a print out is not possible.


Test requirements:
- Supply voltage of vehicle electrical system OK.
- Fuses OK.
- Engine and transmission Ground (GND) connections OK







- Release ashtray in center console by pressing small lever -arrow-.
- Remove ashtray from center console and remove cover for diagnostic plug.







- Connect scan tool V.A.G 1551 or scan tool V.A.G 1552 using cable V.A.G 1551/3.

Indicated on display:

2 - Flash code output 1)

NOTE: If the display remains blank: See Scan tool operating instructions.


- Switch on the scan tool printer with the print key. The warning lamp in the key must light up.
- Enter "1" to select "Rapid data transfer".

Enter address word XX



NOTE:
- Address word 00 implements the automatic test sequence, i.e. the interrogation of the DTC memory via rapid data transfer for all vehicle systems with On Board Diagnostic (OBD) capability.
- Indicated on display.

- Press HELP key to print out a list of possible malfunction causes.
