No Load Voltage, Checking


CAUTION!
- Battery cell caps must be screwed in tightly when charging, measuring voltage or performing load tests
- Be sure to observe the following notes otherwise a correct measurement cannot be guaranteed.



Special tools:
- Multimeter Fluke 83 or
- Volt-Amp tester SUN VAT 40


NOTE:
- If the load voltage is being tested with the battery installed, first disconnect ground strap
- Do not start or drive vehicle with battery to be tested for at least 2 hours before taking measurements.
- No loads must be applied to the battery for at least 2 hours before starting to test.
- Battery must not be charged for at least two hours before taking measurements.


Check battery no load voltage as follows:
- With battery installed with ignition switched off, check voltage between battery terminals with voltmeter.
- No load voltage: 12.5 Volt or above, battery OK
- If battery is below 12.5 V, recharge the battery immediately. Battery, Charging
