Generator, Removing and Installing
CAUTION!
Before working on the electrical system:
- Determine the correct coding for the anti-theft radio.
- Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.
NOTE:
- Before disconnecting the battery, obtain radio anti-theft code.
- After reconnecting the battery be sure to reactivate the radio, clock, power windows and engine.
Work sequence
- Remove noise insulation -arrows-.
- Remove intake hose from generator.
- Disconnect wiring for terminal 30 (B +)- -1- at generator.
Tightening torque: 16 Nm (12 ft lb)
- Disconnect terminal D+ -2-.
Tightening torque: 4 Nm (35 in. lb)
- Release tension for ribbed belt by pulling belt by hand down and inserting 3204 drift.
- Remove ribbed belt from generator..
NOTE: Mark running direction of belt. Running the belt in reverse can damage it.
- Remove bolts -1-, tightening torque 45 Nm (33 ft lb).
- To better reach rear bolt -1-, remove air cleaner and remove bolt from above.
- Remove bolt -2-, tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ft lb).
- Remove generator -4- down and then out of the engine compartment.
Installing:
- Install generator in reverse order of removal.
