Tie Rod, Removing and Installing

Special tools and workshop equipment required





^ VAG 1923

Left and right tie rods are identical.
They can be removed and installed with power steering gear remaining installed.

Removing





^ Remove tie rod end and press aside downward.





^ Open clamps on boot.
^ Pull boot as far as possible outward.





^ Remove tie rod with VAG 1923.
^ Replace boot and/or tie rod depending on respective degree of damage.

Installing
Install in reverse order of removal.
^ Checking vehicle alignment, Refer to Alignment, Description and Operation.
