1- Transmission Control Module -J217-
- Disconnecting multi-pin connector.
- Is tested by On Board Diagnostic.
2- Engine Control Module
- Location: in left of plenum chamber.
3- Data Link Connector (DLC)
- Location: below cover in rear ashtray (center console), refer to Connecting Scan Tool VAG 1551 (VAG 1552) and selecting functions.
4- Valve body
- Location: below transmission oil pan.
- The Solenoid Valves -N88-, -N89-, -N90-, -N91-, -N92-, -N93-, -N94- are attached to the valve body
- Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor -G93- is integrated in the wiring harness in the transmission.
- Components are tested by On Board Diagnostic
5- Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch -F125-
- Location: on left of transmission, refer to Replacing Multi-Function TR Switch -F125-.
- Is tested by On Board Diagnostic
6- Transmission Input Speed sensor -G182-
- Location: in valve body, Replacing Transmission Input Speed Sensor -G182-.
- Is tested by On Board Diagnostic
7- Transmission Vehicle Speed Sensor -G38-
- Location: rear right in transmission.
- Is tested by On Board Diagnostic
- Measures transmission output speed
8- Selector lever mechanism
- Location: in front center console
9- Shift Lock Solenoid -N110-
- Location: on right-hand side of selector mechanism
- Can be tested in Measured Value Block and in the Electrical test.
10- Throttle Position (TP) Sensor -G69-
- Location: integrated in Throttle Valve Control Module -J338-
- Is tested by On Board Diagnostic
- Signal is transmitted from the throttle position sensor via the engine control module to the transmission control module. Signal can be tested only in the Measured Value Block. If the throttle position sensor is displayed in the On Board Diagnostic as a malfunction, always conduct On Board Diagnostic of the engine control module as well.
11- Cruise Control Switch -E45-
- Location: integrated in steering column switch
- Can be checked in the Electrical test.
12- Park Neutral Position (PNP) Relay -J226-
13- Transmission Range Selector Lever Display -Y6-
- Location: in instrument cluster
- If gear display goes out, this indicates emergency mode with non active transmission control module.
- If gear display is completely illuminated, this indicates emergency mode with active transmission control module.
14- Kick Down Switch -F8-
- Location: behind bulkhead in plenum chamber, integrated in throttle cable
- To replace the kick down switch, replace the throttle cable and then adjust.
- Can be tested in Measuring Value Block, and in the electrical test.
15- Brake Light Switch -F-
- Location: in pedal assembly
- Can be tested in Measuring Value Block and in the electrical test.
