Fuel Level Signal: Testing and Inspection

Fuel level signal, checking

If the symbol "low fuel" is displayed in the instrument cluster (customer is ordered to refuel) the fuel level signal is sent to Engine Control Module (ECM). The fuel level signal and the Sensor for low fuel level -G210 are being evaluated by the ECM, in order to shut off the engine in case the fuel tank is empty.

- Connect VAG 1598/31 test box to wiring harness for engine control module. DO NOT connect to engine control module itself, Refer to "Scan Tool Testing/Scan Tool Connecting and Initial Checks/Connecting VAG 1598/31 Test Box" Testing and Inspection

The following wiring connection is to be checked for short circuit to B+, short circuit to Ground (GND) and an open circuit.
