Component Tests and General Diagnostics



- Connect VAG1551 or VAG1552 Scan Tool (ST), select Read Measuring Value Block (function 08) and display group 004.
- Fully retract belt webbing.
- "NO" indicated on scan tool display.
- Pull belt webbing out by amount specified (distance "L") and engage latch plate in buckle.
- "YES" indicated on scan tool display.
- Pull out belt webbing as far as it will go.
- "YES" should remain on the scan tool display as the belt is pulled out.
- Retract belt as far as distance "L" but do not release latch plate (distance "L").
- "YES" should remain indicated on scan tool display.
- Release latch plate and slowly retract belt webbing.
- When belt webbing has retracted up to last 100 mm (approx. 4 in.), scan tool display should switch from "YES" to "NO."
- "NO" indicated on scan tool display with belt webbing fully retracted.


Distance "L"
- On sedan: distance "L" is 250 mm (approx. 10 in.) for left and right belts; rear (transverse) belt adjuster set to center position.
- On Avant (wagon): distance "L" is 220 mm (approx. 8-1/2 in.) for left and right belts; rear (transverse) belt adjuster set to center position.
- On sedan and Avant: distance "L" for center belt is 500 mm (approx. 20 in.).
