Wiring Between Transmission and 88-Pin Connector For TCM
Wiring between transmission and 88-pin connector for Transmission Control Module (TCM), checking
To be performed when:
- Output Diagnostic Test Mode (DTM) or
- Electric test indicates a malfunction between transmission and TCM -J217.
Test condition:
- Ignition switched off
- Test box V.A.G 1598120 connected to 88pin connector of transmission wiring harness.
- Remove sound damper tray.
Wiring connection to 16-pin connector at transmission, checking
- Disconnect connector -4- of the 16-pin connector from transmission by twisting.
- If necessary remove bracket -1- for sound dampening.
- With multimeter Fluke 83, check wiring between terminals of 16-pin connector and sockets of test box V.A.G 1598/20 for continuity. For resistance values see following table.
connector terminal 1 thru 8
connector terminal 9 thru 11
connector terminal 12 thru 14
connector terminal 15 and 16
Note:
^ When wiring is OK, check wiring harness inside the transmission. Remove and replace valve body
^ If wiring inside transmission is OK, replace applicable solenoid valves. Remove and install valve body.
Wiring to Multi-function Transmission Range (TR) Switch, checking
- Remove clip for 8-pin connector-2- to TR Switch.
- With multimeter Fluke 83, check for continuity between terminals of 8-pin connector and sockets of test box V.A.G 1598/20. For resistance values see table.
1) With connector for TR Switch -F125 connected, the backup lights must light up when ignition is switched on and reverse gear is engaged.
Note: If wiring is OK, replace TR Switch-F125
