Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Testing and Inspection
Malfunction Light For Power Accelerator Activation - K132 -, Checking
NOTE: The malfunction light for power accelerator activation - K132 - is also called the EPC warning lamp.
Special tools and equipment
- VAG 1594A
- VAG 1598/31
Functional test of warning lamp
- Switch ignition on.
- EPC warning lamp must light up
A - malfunction light for power accelerator activation (EPC warning lamp) - K132 - does not light up
- Connect VAG 1598/31 test box at wiring harness to ECM, do not connect ECM.
- Bridge sockets 1 and 48 of test box.
- Switch ignition on.
- Warning lamp must light
If warning lamp does not light:
- Switch ignition off.
- Remove instrument cluster and check bulb and its voltage supply:
If no malfunctions are detected:
- Check the following wire connection for open circuit and short circuit to B+:

- Repair open circuit or short circuit if necessary.
If wire connection is OK:
- Replace Engine Control Module (ECM).
B - malfunction light for power accelerator activation - K132 - remains lit after engine start
- Check DTC memory of Engine Control Module (ECM).
If no DTCs are stored:
- Connect VAG 1598/31 test box at wiring harness to ECM, do not connect ECM.
- Check the following wire connection for short circuit to Ground:

- Repair short circuit if necessary.
If wire connection is OK:
- Replace Engine Control Module (ECM).
