Splines, Drive Axle/Wheel Hub

Splines, drive axle/wheel hub

Notes:
- Drive axle/wheel hub splines can either be "adhered" using locking fluid or, for the newer version of wheel hubs, (Part No. 8N0 407 613 A or B), greased.
- i.e. the version of the wheel hub determines whether "adhered" or greased.
- The older wheel hubs, Part No. 8N0 407 613 (wheel hub stamped with: 8N0 615), can be attached for drive axles that were "adhered", but must continue to be "adhered" using locking fluid D 185 400 A2.
- Newer wheel hubs, part No. 8N0 407 613 A or B (wheel hub stamped with 8N0 615A or B), must NEVER be "adhered. " Only use securing grease G 052 142 A2.
- A vehicle with "adhered" drive axle/wheel hub on one side and greased drive axle/wheel hub on the other is permitted since the "adhered" wheel hub can be replaced with a greased one. However, a greased wheel hub must NEVER be replaced with a "adhered" one.

Tightening torques for the 12 - point nuts vary.
- For "adhered" wheel hub: 265 Nm
- For greased wheel hub: 190 Nm + 90°
