1 - Connection

^ Always replace
3 - Coolant thermostat
^ Heat thermostat in water
^ Opening begins at approximately 86°C (187°F)
^ Minimum Opening: 7 mm (0.28 inch)
4 - Bleeder screw
^ 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
5 - Bolt
^ 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
6 - Retaining clip
^ Make sure clip is seated securely
7 - Engine - Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor -G62-
^ For Engine Control Module (ECM)
^ If necessary, release pressure in cooling system before removing
8 - Rear coolant line
9 - Lifting eye
10 - 10 Nm (7 ft. lbs.)
11 - Coolant line
13 - Sealing cap
^ Check using VAG 1274 cooling system tester with VAG1 274/8 adapter
^ Test pressure: 1.4 - 1.6 bar (20 - 23 psi)
14 - O-ring
^ Replace if damaged
15 - Expansion - tank
^ Check using VAG 1274 cooling system tester with VAG 1274/9 adapter
16 - Upper coolant hose
^ Secured to radiator with retaining clip
^ Make sure hose is securely seated
17 - Coolant line
18 - Rear toothed belt guard
19 - Gasket
^ Always replace
20 - Coolant pump
21 - Lower coolant line
22 - Oil cooler
23 - Belt pulley
^ For viscous fan
24 - Fan wheel for viscous fan
25 - Viscous fan coupling
26 - Bracket
^ For viscous fan
